About Me

We don’t have to face life alone; asking for help shows strength, not weakness.

I’ve always know that I wanted to help others. My own experiences with different helpers have shaped how I work as a therapist. Over the years, I’ve earned several professional qualifications and gained hands on experience in community mental health, teaching, and running a small business.

I’m a mom, partner, daughter, sister, and aunt. All roles where I care for, and support my loved ones. The key link between my work and personal life, is the importance of relationships.

Research shows that an authentic connection between therapist and client leads to better outcomes. This idea guides how I support people on their unique paths.

A little more about what informs my therapeutic perspective

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals accept their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty for them. It encourages psychological flexibility by teaching clients to stay present in the moment and commit to behaviours aligned with their values.

ACT combines acceptance strategies with commitment and behaviour-change techniques to increase emotional resilience. The goal is not to eliminate difficult emotions but to develop a new relationship with them, reducing their impact and influence over behaviour.

ACT is effective in treating anxiety, depression, stress, and perinatal mental health concerns, helping individuals live richer, more meaningful lives by fostering acceptance and purposeful living.

Perinatal Mental Health

Perinatal mental health counselling is specialized support for individuals experiencing emotional challenges during pregnancy and the first year postpartum. This form of therapy addresses issues such as anxiety, depression, and stress related to the transition to parenthood. Through compassionate, evidence-based approaches, counselling provides a safe space to explore feelings, manage symptoms, and develop coping strategies, promoting well-being for both parent and baby. Early intervention and ongoing support can significantly improve outcomes for families during this critical period.

As a registered member of Postpartum Support International, I am committed to helping families suffering from postpartum depression, anxiety, and distress.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a highly effective, evidence-based therapeutic approach specifically designed to assist individuals in processing and healing from a range of emotional challenges, including trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. This method operates by identifying and targeting “brainspots,” which are particular eye positions linked to areas of emotional distress that the brain has stored.

By using gentle eye positioning combined with focused attention, brainspotting enables clients to access deep, unresolved experiences that often remain beyond the reach of traditional talk therapies. This process facilitates significant healing and improved emotional regulation, supporting overall mental well-being.
